They result from four years of experience in mentoring. It took me a lot of time to develop this approach to my students in my work as a mentor. I cordially invite you to read it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">For many people, after reading this article, two issues may be surprising. The first one: <em>the mentor only shows the path and supports you in acquiring knowledge<\/em> - the mentor does not teach. The second issue: <em>the knowledge transferred is limited to what the mentor knows and can do<\/em> - we will not find out more. What is important to me is the relationship I build during joint mentoring activities - technology is just a tool, the most important thing is people. wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">When starting mentoring with a person who contacts me,<strong>at the beginning I think about the mentor-student relationship that will be created during our joint classes<\/strong>. I try to take on the role of my future student. It is worth for them to also look at mentoring from the perspective of the mentor. In this article I will try to explain the process of transferring knowledge from both sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Of course, I could immediately indicate the starting and ending point of the path that should be followed to become a Junior Java Developer. I could describe the formal learning framework and get down to business. Fortunately, I am far from this approach, mentoring classes are individual and tailored to the student's needs. I have an action plan prepared, but each point is implemented at a pace appropriate to the student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading joli-heading jtoc-heading\" id=\"tempo-przyswajania-wiedzy\">The pace of knowledge acquisition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Przyk&#322;ad<\/em>, je&#380;eli widz&#281;, &#380;e dana osoba dobrze przyswaja przekazywan&#261; wiedz&#281;, to po prostu szybciej zaczynamy nowy temat &ndash; nie ma sztucznego &ldquo;wytapiania czasu&rdquo;. Natomiast w przypadku, gdy dane zagadnienie stwarza problem, to zwalniamy i pochylamy si&#281; nad nim, t&#322;umacz&#281; dany temat z r&oacute;&#380;nych stron. W perspektywie ca&#322;ego procesu przekazywania wiedzy momenty zwalniania i przyspieszania u&#347;redniaj&#261; si&#281;, ale ucze&#324;, uczennica przyswaja wiedz&#281; w swoim tempie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading joli-heading jtoc-heading\" id=\"umowny-punkt-startu-i-konca\">Conventional starting and ending point<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Punkty startu i ko&#324;ca s&#261; umowne. Niemniej jednak mam sp&oacute;jna wizj&#281; i &#347;cie&#380;k&#281; rozwoju w kierunku pracy na stanowisku Junior Java Developer w &ldquo;standardzie bran&#380;owym&rdquo;, czyli wiedza i umiej&#281;tno&#347;ci, kt&oacute;ra s&#261; obecnie obowi&#261;zuj&#261;ce w r&oacute;&#380;nych firmach. Nie mam sztywnego harmonogramu, jedynie wyznaczone g&#322;&oacute;wne punkty na &#347;cie&#380;ce do zmiany zawodu na Junior Java Developer&rsquo;a, Developer&rsquo;k&#281;. W moim mentoringu wyr&oacute;&#380;niam dwie &#347;cie&#380;ki dla przysz&#322;ych m&#322;odszych programist&oacute;w, programistek j&#281;zyka Java. Pierwsza z nich: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.juniorjavadeveloper.pl\/en\/oferta\/sciezka-wsparcia-przyszlego-junior-java-developera\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1129\" target=\"_blank\">The Support Path of the Future Junior Java Developer<\/a>, druga: &#346;cie&#380;ka wiedzy przysz&#322;ego Junior Java Developer&rsquo;a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading joli-heading jtoc-heading\" id=\"moje-praktyki-w-mentoringu\">My mentoring practices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Below is a list of my main thoughts and practices that I apply during mentoring:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">Celowo u&#380;ywam zwrotu &ldquo;przekazywanie wiedzy&rdquo; zamiast &ldquo;nauczanie&rdquo;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">To better understand the people to whom I imparted knowledge, I took on the role of a student myself.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">The problem in understanding what the mentor is talking about does not lie solely on the student's side.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">The mentor only shows the path and supports you along the way of acquiring knowledge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">The mentor supports the process of independent problem solving.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">The knowledge transferred is limited to what the mentor knows and is capable of.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading joli-heading jtoc-heading\" id=\"przekazywanie-wiedzy\">Transfer of knowledge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Celowo u&#380;ywam zwrotu &ldquo;przekazywanie wiedzy&rdquo; zamiast &ldquo;nauczanie&rdquo;.<\/strong> W moim rozumieniu, przekazywanie wiedzy jest przez praktyk&#281; i do&#347;wiadczenie, na realnych przyk&#322;adach, natomiast nauczanie pojmuj&#281; jako &ldquo;uczenie si&#281; na pami&#281;&#263;&rdquo; teorii z podr&#281;cznika. Nauczano nas w szkole, dawniej uczniom przekazywano wiedz&#281; praktyczn&#261; na temat zawodu, kt&oacute;ry maj&#261; w przysz&#322;o&#347;ci wykonywa&#263;. Samo okre&#347;lenie &ldquo;przekazywanie wiedzy&rdquo; zmienia perspektyw&#281;, po&#322;o&#380;enie i cel pozyskiwania wiedzy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading joli-heading jtoc-heading\" id=\"praktyczny-przyklad\">Practical example<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Przyk&#322;ad<\/em>, wiele os&oacute;b, kt&oacute;re zapisuje si&#281; do mnie na mentoring, m&oacute;wi mi, &#380;e &ldquo;jest zm&#281;czony, zm&#281;czona uczeniem si&#281; z internetu&rdquo;. Moim zdaniem, na ten stan rzeczy sk&#322;adaj&#261; si&#281; dwa czynniki. Pierwszy, to w&#322;a&#347;nie &ldquo;uczenie si&#281; na pami&#281;&#263;&rdquo;, wi&#261;&#380;e si&#281;, to z tym, &#380;e wiele kurs&oacute;w nastawionych jest na przekazywanie wiedzy teoretycznej w &ldquo;podr&#281;cznikowy spos&oacute;b&rdquo;, czyli rozdzia&#322; po rozdziale. Drugim czynnikiem jest ogrom wiedzy dost&#281;pnej w internecie w formie artyku&#322;&oacute;w, video, podcast&oacute;w.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading joli-heading jtoc-heading\" id=\"wcielenie-sie-w-role-ucznia\">Taking on the role of a student<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#379;eby lepiej zrozumie&#263; osoby, kt&oacute;rym przekazuj&#281; wiedz&#281;, samemu wcieli&#322;em si&#281; w rol&#281; ucznia<\/strong> &ndash; &ldquo;zapisa&#322;em si&#281; na korepetycje&rdquo;. Moim zdaniem, poprzeczk&#281; postawi&#322;em sobie wysoko, tak, jak robi, to wi&#281;kszo&#347;&#263; os&oacute;b, kt&oacute;re zg&#322;aszaj&#261; si&#281;&nbsp;do mnie na mentoring. Zabra&#322;em si&#281; za nauk&#281; matematyki &ldquo;od podstaw&rdquo; oraz fizyki kwantowej, tak, aby docelowo zaj&#261;&#263; si&#281; tematami sztucznej inteligencji (AI) oraz nauczania maszynowego (ML).  Wiem, &#380;e dla wielu os&oacute;b zmieniaj&#261;cych swoj&#261; obecn&#261; bran&#380;&#281; na bran&#380;&#281; IT, nie jest, to &#322;atwy proces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading joli-heading jtoc-heading\" id=\"praktyczny-przyklad_1\">Practical example<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph translation-block\"><em>Example<\/em>, as mentioned above, I am learning under the supervision of a mentor, you could say, from scratch. Why from scratch? I abandoned (mentor's path) school memorization of patterns and formulas in favor of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/pl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dowd_(mathematyka)\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dowd_(matematyka)\" target=\"_blank\">mathematical proofs<\/a> and the practical application of knowledge. Thanks to this, I could see what it looks like to acquire new knowledge, solve homework tasks from the student's perspective and struggle with problems in understanding a given issue. This perspective has greatly helped me improve my craft as a mentor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading joli-heading jtoc-heading\" id=\"problem-w-nauce-lezy-po-obu-stronach\">The learning problem lies on both sides<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">When imparting knowledge, I assume that the problem in understanding what the mentor is talking about is not only on the side of the student, but also on the side of the mentor himself. That is why I dynamically adapt the methods and way of transferring knowledge to a given person. Knowing that my way of transmitting knowledge may be imperfect and may not work for every person, I arm myself with a lot of patience and humility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading joli-heading jtoc-heading\" id=\"praktyczny-przyklad_2\">Practical example<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Przyk&#322;ad<\/em>, wiele razy s&#322;ysz&#281; &ldquo;ja tego nie rozumiem&rdquo;, wtedy zastanawiam si&#281; jak mog&#281; przekaza&#263; wiedz&#281; lepiej. Jednym ze sposob&oacute;w jest znalezienie wsp&oacute;lnego j&#281;zyka, je&#380;eli dana osoba pracuje w logistyce, to u&#380;ywam przyk&#322;ad&oacute;w zwi&#261;zanych z przesy&#322;kami, paczkami. Kolejnym sposobem jest powtarzanie przeze mnie, tego samego kilka razy lub parafrazowanie. Zach&#281;cam do robienia notatek oraz nauki z oficjalnej dokumentacji danego j&#281;zyka, narz&#281;dzia do programowania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading joli-heading jtoc-heading\" id=\"wyznaczenie-sciezki\">Determining the path<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Trzeba uzmys&#322;owi&#263; sobie, &#380;e <strong>mentor wskazuje tylko &#347;cie&#380;k&#281; i wspiera na drodze pozyskiwania wiedzy<\/strong> &ndash; mentor nie uczy. Tym samym nie ucz&#281; wiedzy teoretycznej w &ldquo;podr&#281;cznikowy spos&oacute;b&rdquo;, czyli rozdzia&#322; po rozdziale, fragmentaryzuj&#261;c poszczeg&oacute;lne elementy. Ucze&#324;, uczennica pozyskuje wiedz&#281; w oparciu o wi&#281;kszy projekt, kt&oacute;ry stanowi cz&#281;&#347;&#263; przysz&#322;ego portfolio. Ca&#322;o&#347;&#263; osadzona jest w kontek&#347;cie realnej pracy na stanowisku Junior Java Developer, tak, jak oczekuje, tego obecnie pracodawca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading joli-heading jtoc-heading\" id=\"praktyczny-przyklad_3\">Practical example<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Przyk&#322;ad<\/em>, cz&#281;sto s&#322;ysz&#281;: &ldquo;to Pan nie nauczy mnie programowa&#263;?&rdquo;, albo &ldquo;nie stworzy Pan za mnie projektu?&rdquo;. W obu przypadkach odpowied&#378; brzmi, nie. Oczywi&#347;cie, to nie jest tak, &#380;e nie przedstawi&#281; teorii i praktyki dla danego zagadnienia &ndash; jest teoria i praktyka, od czego&#347; trzeba zacz&#261;&#263;. Chodzi o fakt,  &#380;e wi&#281;kszo&#347;&#263; pracy w przyswajaniu wiedzy jest po stronie osoby ucz&#261;cej si&#281;. Wspomagam ten proces ciekawymi przyk&#322;adami z &#380;ycia prawdziwego programisty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading joli-heading jtoc-heading\" id=\"wspomaganie-samodzielnej-nauki\">Supporting independent learning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mentor wspomaga proces samodzielnego rozwi&#261;zywania problem&oacute;w<\/strong>. Zaszczepiam tzw. &ldquo;informatyk&#281; &#347;ledcz&#261;&rdquo;, zach&#281;cam do przegl&#261;dania istniej&#261;cego kodu &#378;r&oacute;d&#322;owego, &#347;ledzenia przebiegu dzia&#322;ania aplikacji. Pokazuj&#281; jak wyszukiwa&#263; informacji przez w&#322;a&#347;ciwe s&#322;owa kluczowe wpisywane w wyszukiwark&#281; internetow&#261;. Wyja&#347;niam jak dzia&#322;a&#263;, kiedy &ldquo;mentora nie b&#281;dzie pod r&#281;k&#261;&rdquo;, zawsze mo&#380;na przeczyta&#263; oficjalna dokumentacj&#281; i\/lub zapozna&#263; si&#281; z &ldquo;wbudowan&#261; dokumentacj&#261;&rdquo; w postaci javadoc. Najlepiej przyswaja&#263; wiedz&#281; w oparciu o praktyk&#281; i nasze b&#322;&#281;dy. Piszemy kod zawieraj&#261;cy b&#322;&#281;dy &ndash; wiele razy s&#322;ysza&#322;em, &ldquo;czy Pan na pewno zna j&#281;zyk Java&rdquo; &ndash; w kt&oacute;rym prosz&#281; o wskazanie elementu podkre&#347;lonego na czerwono, aby zobaczy&#263; jaki jest komunikat i samodzielnie znale&#378;&#263; jego rozwi&#261;zanie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading joli-heading jtoc-heading\" id=\"przekazywana-wiedza-jest-ograniczona\">The knowledge transferred is limited<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Please remember that the knowledge transferred is limited to what the mentor knows and can do - we will not learn more. Therefore, without further improvement on your own, you can limit yourself to one programming language, e.g. Java, or a selected technology, e.g. web applications.
